- Recipes
- Articles or blogs that I read that I think I might want to refer back to (I now have so many of these I keep them in a separate “notebook” in Evernote
- My open university coursebooks & notes that I take (the PDF search facility comes in really handy when doing my course assignments)
- Blog posts that I’m in the process of writing or ideas that I want to note down for later (I’m writing this in Evernote now!!!)
- Wish lists for me and for family members or friends so I know what to get them for Christmas/Birthdays
- Information about Cars, insurance, any paperwork that I think I may later need
- Receipts
- Any correspondence that I draft that I may want to come back to (to copy the wording for instance)
- Documents that I am no longer referring to regularly but I do not want to delete altogether (the rest of my regularly updated files go in Dropbox – more about this later)
- Pet/children/husband details – like shoe size, insurance info, that kind of thing.
- Logins and passwords – you can encrypt the password information
Steam now available on handheld devices!
From today steam is available for people to download to their iOS or Android devices for free, allowing you to chat, shop and keep up to date with everything steam!
Sara – The siri alternative for non 4S devices
So by now many people have found out that iOS 5 update does not bring siri to any device apart from the 4S, so whats the work around, Spire with a siri proxy or the latest one, Sara! The downfall to a siri proxy is firstly because you need to own a 4S or know someone with a 4S and secondly the keys have to be renewed every 24 hours. Sara the siri alternative is far from ready for prime time but it looks very good and can be downloaded from the repo “http://isoftjsc.com”,What are your thoughts comment below!
Why Apple’s products are ‘Designed in California’ but ‘Assembled in China’
Look at the back of your iPhone, or your iPad, or on the bottom of your Mac. Somewhere you will see the following words embossed: “Designed by Apple in California. Assembled in China.”
Many Americans, all the way up to the President himself, have wondered why Apple has outsourced virtually all of its manufacturing overseas. At a dinner with several top US technology executives last year, President Obama asked Steve Jobs flat out what it would take to bring those jobs back to the US. According to Jobs, there’s simply no way for it to happen.
The New York Times asked that question, and after an extremely well-researched report involving interviews with both former and current executives at Apple, the answer the Times found is both simple and chilling: iPhones aren’t made in America because they just can’t be. The infrastructure and labor force doesn’t exist at the levels necessary to support Apple’s operations – it’s not even close.
The Chinese factory where most iPhones reach final assembly employs 230,000 workers. The number of cities in the US that have a population higher than that is a mere 83 cities – and that’s total population, not workforce. With an average labor force of around 65 percent of the population, only 50 US cities are large enough to provide that kind of labor.
