How to Jailbreak Apple TV 2 iOS 5.1 Tethered (MAC)
REMEMBER This is a tethered jailbreak, i haven’t found this being an issue yet, However a tethered jailbreak means you must plug it in each time to your PC to reboot it. Do this at your own risk, you have been warned!
New Apple TV
Apple has just announced A brand new version of Apple TV for users to enjoy. Featuring a new, streamlined interface, 1080o supports, iTunes in the cloud playlist support, Apple think your going to ‘love it’, and it can be yours for $99 come March 16th.
Why Jailbreak Apple TV?
This is one of the most talked about things at the moment, why jailbreak apple TV? Some of the reasons below may answer this question:
- XBMC – XBMC is a Media center originally written for the XBOX, Xbox Media Center was the name, however it has found its way onto other devices such as the Apple TV2, XBMC is modifiable with themes available for download
- NitoTV, lets you play movies in any format, Create playlists, Create or edit network share points, Launcher for applications, settings
- Tweaks
Simply because you can! I will be doing some more in-depth posts on what XBMC and NitoTV are in the following week or so
What does running apps on apple TV mean?
Ok so with the recent development in being able to run iOS apps on your apple tv i decided to write this post about what it means to us the users of this. This in essence can turn apple TV into a small computer, as you can see in the video you have full functionality of the keyboard and mouse. So it gives you an easy input on applications. Also if you could have applications such as, keynote, pages and numbers, this would allow you to take it on the go and show people your presentations! It as i said basically turns apple tv into a small desktop computer, Like a mac mini but only a lot smaller! If the framework to port iOS apps is available easily, i think this could take off really well and change the micro computer industry!
Apple TV running apps at 720P
So with jailbreaks the apple TV can be completly different than what the intentional use is for. Once jailbroken as you can see below, you can run Apps in 720P HD, I will be doing a followup post on the reasons to jailbreak and another post regarding what the recent deveolpment in running applications on apple tv could mean for us! What are your thoughts?

So apple TV was just a simple box which now has hidden gems when jailbroken, one of them being running iOS apps on it check out the video below (This has been created by developers recently so i would imagine its in its first stages of creation)
If the Apple TV Set Will Exist, What does it need?
Is this apple tv set is going to exist, what will it have, what should it have and what will it need? Here’s my overview of what it should have! My thoughts are from the design to the insides to connectivity and ports
Design – Exterior
I have 2 initial thoughts for the exterior of the apple tv set, my first is it will look like an enlarged iMac with the metal design, the second is the apple cinema display but enlarged!

Apple TV to have gaming support?
We know (even on my website) apple iOS 4.3 has been really anticipated, but now apple tv is getting involved?
According so the gadget website engadged, A few lines of code have been found in the third beta of iOS 4.3. So it could support online gaming. Some of the coding found include: ”com.apple.appletv.play.live.thunder”
It sounds good, if apple could pull of gaming on appe tv it would be amazing, even if it had a few games like angry birds, however since the new apple tv has no storage what would they do? Expansion? Only time will tell.
